ITINERARY PLAN

+ Namaste and welcome in Nepal. Our team will pick you up from the airport and take you to your hotel where you can rest after your flights.

+ Kathmandu is without a doubt one of the most spiritual cities in the world with its mystical temples and shrines.

Today we will take you on a journey where both Hinduism and Buddhism co-exist in harmony for centuries. We will show you the most iconic religious sites in Kathmandu where you can admire its powerful cultural heritage.

We will finish this day with a traditional Nepalese welcome dinner.

+ First we go to visit Patan, the third biggest city in Nepal that is home to the valley’s finest craftsmen who have preserved ancient techniques of metal craft. We will also be able to explore Patan Durbar Square which is UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its palace buildings, artistic courtyards and graceful pagoda temples.

Then we will head to Bhaktapur, another cultural gem. Bhaktapur is an ancient Newari and royal city in the eastern Kathmandu Valley. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its rich culture, temples and wooden, metal and stone works of art.

+ A unique opportunity to stay for the night in a buddhist monastery, participate in ceremonies and meditation, learn more about Buddhism.

As visitors we can explore the monastery, admire the beautiful gardens and courtyards and participate in meditation sessions.

+ After breakfast we will head back to Kathmandu. Afternoon is free to explore the city, or for those interested we can go to the Thamel district, which is the best place to buy souvenirs.

+ Prepare yourself for one of the most scenic flights. On our way to Tibet we will be able to admire the highest peaks on this planet and see the beauty of the Himalayas from up close.

After we check-in it´s time to rest and acclimatise as Lhasa is located on an impressive altitude of 3656m above the sea level.

+ We start our journey on the Tibetan side by visiting some very special spiritual sites. The Drapung Monastery is the largest Tibetan Monastery, where over 10000 monks once resided, including the Dalai Lama. After lunch we visit the Sera Monastery, where lively debates take place between the monks and the novices. We will also visit the Barkhor Street, known as the “heart of Lhasa,” which is home to the most famous pilgrimage route and bustling bazaar in Lhasa.

+ Today we will take you to the famous Potala Palace, the symbol of Tibet. Built in the 7th century and later rebuild by the 5th Dalai Lama, nowadays the Potala Palace is a museum and a world heritage site. After the iconic Potala Palace we will then head to one of the holiest sites in Tibet, the Jokhang Temple, a famous pilgrimage site.

+ In order to get to Gyantse we have a 6h drive but on the way we will encounter many interesting places. The road willl take us along the picturesque Yamdrok Lake. We will also pass between the glaciers through the Karo La Pass (5010m).

+ Passing through the agricultural centre of Tibet we first stop in Shalu Monastery, where you can find the oldest surviving wall paintings in Tibet. We will also visit Tashilumpo Monastery – the seat of the Panchen Lama, who is considered the reincarnation of the Buddha of endless enlightenment. Here we can find items such as the relics of Shakyamuni, the Hall of Maitreya and an outstanding collection of gifts and statues. We will finish with a visit to Sakya Monastery, another very important Tibetan Buddhist monastery, as it was the political center of Tibet in the second half of the 13th century and the first half of the 14th century.

+ After breakfast we set off for Xegar. It´s the center of this remote region of Tibet and serves as a starting point for expeditions to Mount Everest and other peaks. As the journey continues we reach Tingri, where when the weather is good, we can already see Mount Everest (8,849 m) on the horizon. The journey takes us over the Gyatso La Pass (5,248 m) and the Pang La Pass (5,120 m) to the new Mount Everest Base Camp (5,000 m). Here you have an excellent view of the gigantic north face of Everest.

+  We will start this day with the impressive sunrise at Mt. Everest Base Camp and a visit to Rongbuk Monastery, located at 5,000 m at the foot of Mount Everest. From this point, we enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the majestic Himalayan mountains. After spending some time on this “Roof of the World”, we head to Old Tingri where we can enjoy more spectacular views of the Himalayan Mountains and Mount Everest. We then continue with the road that descends into the Matsang Tsangpo Gorge, flanked by picturesque waterfalls and lush flora. We cross two impressive passes, Thong La (5,050 m) and Lalung La (5,082 m), from which we can enjoy magnificent views of the imposing mountains, including the fascinating Shisha Pangma (8,027 m). During our journey we also pass the Milarepa Cave, located high above a cliff and said to be the place where the famous tantric master and yogi meditated.

+ As our journey is coming to an end, we will drive to the Nepalese border. After the exit formalities we will then continue our travel to Kathmandu by private vehicle. Along the way you can watch Nepalese traditional villages.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Visas

To enter Nepal, you will need a visa that can be acquired at the airport and the procedure is quick and simple.
Fees depend on the duration of your stay:
15 Days – 30 USD
30 Days – 50 USD
90 Days – 125 USD

 

Nationals from Portugal can enter the People’s Republic of China visa-free for up to 30 days for business, tourist, visit and transit purposes.

We will apply for the Tibet permit for you.

Please note that Tibet permits are not issued for journalists, professional soldiers, high government officials and diplomats and entry into Tibet is therefore not possible.

Rooms and conditions

Our clients stay in comfortable hotels, in double/twin rooms.

In general, outside of Lhasa you have to be prepared for very basic toilets.

Transportation

All land transfers are by private vehicle/bus.

Please note that because of the long distances, long and tiring journeys are unavoidable on some days.

Insurance

All clients require appropriate health insurance.

We also advise you to acquire travel insurance in case you need to cancel your trip last moment.

Deposit

To confirm your booking, we will ask you to pay 30% deposit which is necessary to cover the cost of preparing our staff and resources. The rest has to be paid until 60 days before the start of the trip.

Cancelation

If you cancel until 60 days before the trip you will lose your deposit.

Cancelation between 60 and 15 days before the trip is equal to losing 50% of the value of the trip.

If you cancel less than 15 days before the trip you will be charged 100% of the trip value.

In case you want to change dates of your trip you can do it until 60 days before your original trip
